Currently supports Codex. Support for Claude Code and other agent harnesses is coming soon. Use Codex normally. Everest compresses tool output before it reaches the model. Your terminal still shows the original output. If compression fails or is skipped, the model gets the original too.

Get started

Requires macOS or Linux, Bash or Zsh, and a working codex command. Install and complete browser login:
Open a new terminal, then start Codex:
Your usual Codex arguments work in any repository. Everest does not change the Codex binary or ~/.codex/config.toml.

Useful commands

Start a run without compression:
See savings for the current or latest run:
Savings are estimates and exclude compressor cost. For machine-readable output:
Check connection problems:
Retry login:
Sign out and revoke your session:
If everest is not found, open a new terminal. To update, rerun the install command.

Uninstall

Remove Everest but keep your saved configuration, credentials and savings history:
Or remove Everest and delete that saved data too:
Open a new terminal after uninstalling. Building this into your product? See the SDK guide.
